Mission Week 26

Hey everyone! I hope you all are doing fantastic. I’ve heard and seen photos of snow in parts of Utah, so that is pretty cool. The temperature here is the same as ever, so I do miss the change of seasons a little bit. But the work of the Lord presses forward in whatever situation, so where we go!
Singing I’ve mentioned how my companion, Elder Barret, was in Choir for 8 years and loves to sing. So I’ve been (willingly) dragged along on all of his little singing adventures, like how we are putting together a musical number for the Christmas zone Conference, and how we are talking part in the ward choir for the holidays as well. But it is all in good fun and I’m totally up for it. This ward of Antequera is awesome and I’m up for helping them in whatever ways possible. And that includes… giving a talk yesterday! My companion and I had to give talks yesterday and church (apart from being in the Choir). They went pretty well, I’ve got no complaints as to what happened. It was just a different of an experience having a little better Spanish this time.
The (Slow) Work So this week was pretty rough on the work side of things. We especially realized this when we did our weekly planning session yesterday and there was significantly fewer set appointments for next week, because we hardly had any in the last week. Nearly every day, 3-4 appointments canceled and it really but a shadow on the day each time. But we still found people, taught lessons, and did the work, just a few of our more prominent people in teaching didn’t progress much this past week. But we’ve got hope that the next week will be much better.
Elders Quorum Activity By far the highlight of the week was a party that the Elders Quorum put together on Saturday. And it turned out fantastic. There were plenty of people, fun games, and of course, great food. Elder Barret and I arrived quite early and played a lot of the games, but unfortunately had to leave to go to a teaching appointment before the food was ready. I was super bummed out by this. We had our appointment, finished wrirign oir talks, then headed home. After getting ready for bed, at nearly 10:00 that night, we get a call from the bishop saying he is outside our door with food from the activity they saved for us. So we quickly ran out and then had a wonderful dinner afterwards of meat, beans, and rice. What a huge blessing!
Spiritual Thought Since you all didn’t hear my talk, I’ll just share a few thoughts from it that I think are really special. First off, everyone can be a missionary, but they need a few things to do so. We learn of these two things in Alma’s mission to the Zoramites when he asks in prayer for “Power and Wisdom”. These to things can help us bring the message of the Restored Gospel to those who really need it. Moreover, we also need divine assistance to obtain this power and wisdom and that comes through the Holy Ghost. Alma 31:36 reads “Now it came to pass that when Alma had said these words, that he clapped his hands upon all them who were with him. And behold, as he clapped his hands upon them, they were filled with the Holy Spirit.” I testify that just like Alma, we all can have this power and wisdom of the Holy Ghost and be ready to be instruments in the Lord’s hands. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
