Mission Week 41: Multi-Zone Conference

Hey everyone! I hope you are all doing fantastic and had a great week. This week for us here in Oaxaca was one to remember with a very special meeting and training from Elder Ochoa, the Seventy Area Authority of our mission. It was incredible to have him come and speak! So let me share a little bit of how it was!
The Before We got notified that Elder Ochoa was going to be coming a few weeks ago, and the whole mission was praying for a miracle to happen with the pandemic and everything down here that the conference could happen. Well, our prayers were answered because we got word that the conference would be multi-zone and would be held in Oaxaca City. This meaning all the outside zones had to take the long journey of 6 or more hours on tour busses to get there. And it was a pretty rough, windy ride and even with nausea medicine, it was so bad a few elders threw up. We left in the morning on Thursday and arrived in the evening to stay the night in the APs’ apartment with a few other elders as well.
The During The next morning we woke up and went to the conference. It was so cool! We had a few trainings from the mission president and his wife, Sister Ochoa, and finally, Elder Ochoa himself. And the lesson he taught was incredible. The example he used was this: he chose a few missionaries to come up, 3-4, then commented on different articles of clothing the were wearing (tie, jacket, shoes, etc.). He then asked why each missionary their reason for wearing them. After each missionary spoke, Elder Ochoa then *corrected them* by saying the reason that they wore these things is to baptize coverts. It was an incredible lesson and just shows how in line with the Lord’s will we should be as missionaries in order to do His work. After the training, we had a great meal where we got to see and talk with a few of the other missionaries such as my trainer Elder Sifuentes. In all it was a great conference.
The After The ride home was in the afternoon directly after the conference ended. It was much better ride in terms of the nausea, but unfortunately there was a blockade so we had to go around, turning the trip from 6 hours to 8. When we got back to Juchitán, we stayed the night with the zone leaders and went home to Santo Domingo the next morning.
Pictures! A bunch of photos, most of them being during the trip home from the conference! Enjoy!
Have a great week everyone! -Elder Ord
