Mission Week 48: A New Beginning

Hey everyone! I hope you are doing well and had a great Mother’s Day yesterday! This was a special week for me here in Oaxaca because I got to receive a new missionary, Elder Cauble! He just got out of the MTC and is starting off strong!
The Transfers Transfers were on Wednesday so we took a taxi to the bus station to drop off Elder Carbajal. The crazy thing is that he is actually going to my old area in Santo Domingo, so I tried to give him all the advice I could. It was a crazy change and completely unexpected. But I know he’ll do great over there with his new companion too
Another Blockade The transfer began like crazy because right after we dropped off Elder Carbajal, a few of the elders heading toward the coast got off the bus to stay the night in Salina Cruz. However, on the return trip back there happened to be a huge blockade on the freeway (due to unrest in the unions or something). So we had to get out of the taxi early, walk through the blockade with all the new elders’ luggage, and then wait on the other side for the bishop to get there with his pickup truck and take us to Salina Cruz.
The Training Begins The work this week was pretty good, especially for a new missionary. We did a lot of contacting, a lot of walking, some member work, and just about everything to show him the ropes. Elder Cauble is 19 years old and from Colorado, about 30 minutes south of Denver. So far it has been a good week with him but I imagine has been pretty tough for him also with learning the language. He’s been picking it up super fast, but a lot of patience will surely be needed. The members are helping along with it too, and he even had to give a talk on Sunday which went super well. We’ll just have to see how the future goes!
