Mission Week 80: Feliz Cumpleaños

Hey everyone! I hope you’re well and preparing for this next Sunday (Christmas). It has been a great week for us here in Oaxaca. The week went great and we got a lot of work done as well as had a ton of fun as a mission in our huge conference!
*Multi-zone Christmas Conference!* This week was basically the huge Christmas party of the mission, and something I was so excited for. It turned out fantastic, even better than last year. It was a long day because we had to get up at 5:00 am and didn’t get home until 10:00 pm, but it was worth every moment. We had a few INCREDIBLE lessons from the Asistents and President Martinez, really helping us to change our focus of the work and go back to the basics. One of the highlights was the talent show. A bunch of missionaries danced and sang and did comedy acts and the whole thing was a huge success. I decided to follow up last year’s act of my district singing “O Holy Night” with this year me playing the same song as a solo on my pocket trumpet. Also, huge shoutout and thanks to my Grandpa Ord for being my acompanament on the piano! Even if it was only a video! We then had lunch which consisted of pasta, salad, mashed potatoes, and turkey. What followed was a huge White Elephant game between the 70 of us missionaries. It was really fun but I kind of got gypped because I gave some cool carved wooden animals and a portable Battleship game, but only received socks and Oreos. Just my luck haha. The real gift received came after when they handed out all of our packages from our families all wrapped up like presents. I opened the wrapping paper but the box itself waits for the 25. Guess I’m just classic in how I like my Christmas. Another great lesson from President Martinez finished up the night and Elder Tobler and I then took the hour-long bus ride home to Zimatlán. It was fun and definitely a good last Christmas on the mission.
*Today* It’s kind of a different p-day today because we actually get to go to Oaxaca city to have an in-person district counsel! This is something very eagerly waited for because for three transfers we’ve only been able to do the counsel over zoom. Finally, after much patience and waiting, the blessings are coming and we get to have in-person district counsel! We also went to the biggest Walmart ever just to see what was there. Tonight we will be returning to our area in Zimatlán. And today is also my birthday, haha. . *Pictures!* -The multi-zoke conference -Me with my two trainees -The town Nativity (baby Jesus not included)
Take care everyone! Have a great week! -Elder Ord
