Mission Week 94: Dear Diary

Hey everyone! I hope you are doing super well! I don’t know how the weather is where you are all at but here in Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, we are dying of heat. We have started to feel the temperature rise and now even at night it is blistering the heat that we get. But I guess that is the cost of serving a mission in this paradise, so I’ll for sure take it.
Honestly, this week wasn’t too exciting. Elder Crandall and I were able to set a few goals and have been working hard so that we can help take some of our friends to baptism, and the work seems to be progressing, even if a little slower than we would like. Even for my district out here in the coast, it was a slower week because on elder hurt his foot and couldn’t walk for a week, or the sister missionaries were traveling nearly the entire week so they couldn’t work. Bascially, a lot of stuff happened so it slowed everything down a bit, but at least we are still happy and working.
We are still working hard with a few people here in the area, namely Fulgencio and Bryan. They both have come to church a few times and really all we are missing to get them baptized is lessons. The tricky part is that Fulgencio can only meet with us once a week and Bryan almost always is busy with something, so that has been a challenge but we still have a lot of hope and faith that a miracle will happen this transfer and we can see a few baptisms pretty soon!
I think I got a bit sick this week too because two days in a row the members gave us mole for lunch, and I love mole, but I definitely overate and I think it did some damage to my stomach because I wasn’t feel too good some of the days. But now I think I’ve gotten over it and hopefully will be back up to 100% this week to go and work hard.
This week we also had interviews with President Martinez. I was surprised because my interview was actually super good and I got some great counsels from Presidente as well as learned some details on what will happen at transfers (my companion probably is getting transferred and another elder in my district will probably become a new district leader in the mission). Even though the interview was over zoom, I am still greatful I was able to have it and get the chance to chat with Presidente Martinez for a bit.
This p-day was actually kind of crazy because we were planning on doing this crazy activity that would take the entire day up, but last minute we had to postpone it until next week because of that one elder who hurt is foot still can’t walk very well, and even less go on a hike over rought terrain. It was kind of a mess getting everything planned and approved and definitely added unnecessary stress to my Saturday evening and Sunday morning, but everything is all good now and next week we should have a pretty long but fun p-day planned out!
Pictures! -We went to this super good restraurant in the morning and got french toast, eggs, and hot chocolate -We were close to the beach (but not on it), and took some pictures nearby -Just some other pictures of the week
I guess this letter was a bit different than how I normally write, but I was feeling different today so I thought I’d go for it. Take care everyone! Have a great week! God loves you all!
