Mission Week 17

Hey everyone! I hope you had a great week and an even greater weekend with General Conference! This week was super great here in Valle de Etla and this upcoming week is sure to be even better.
Exercise?! We recently got a notice from the mission president that for 3 days, the entire mission would have a mandatory exercise routine starting at 6:30 sharp, meaning we had to wake up earlier than normal. In all, it was kind of fun, but also kind of iffy. Some of the exercises were certainly very good and built strength, but others were either a waste of time or a little… dangerous? I don’t know, a few of the things they had us do worried me a little bit. But thankfully, it was only 3 days and no longer.
The Work While the work really didn’t change much this week because of the opening of the mission, our attitudes certainly did. Being able to eat with members and just having the option to go outside and talk to people really was great. We still are doing most of the work through phone because that is what our current investigators are comfortable with (and our area is absolutely massive), but we can now progress to other mediums of communication to teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ in whatever way fits the individual person.
General Conference Would I really be a missionary if I didn’t talk about General Conference? Conference was perfect. The speakers were great, the talks had such spirit, and I was fortunate enough to watch it all in English. There are about half of us in the district who natively speak English, so the district basically split in half to watch in English and Spanish. But the amazing thing that was said during the conference is that there was a live translation into 55 languages! 55! That is incredible and a huge blessing to the entire world. One of the other things that was talked about a lot that really had an impact on me was God loves us! This was repeated from talk to talk and I know it to be true. Our Heavenly Father has a perfect love for us and we can always walk WITH Him and Jesus Christ through all of our trials, not just TO them. They have the ability to improve us every day, even if just by 1% (the amount that really matters). I know that we just listened to the words of the Prophets and Apostles called by God and if you guys missed any talk, I *highly* recommend you go and watch them, because every single talk had something powerful to tell and was full of the Spirit.
