Mission Week 20

Hey everyone! I’m sure you all had a fantastic week and this one upcoming will be even better, I know it! Despite work, school, or just life in general, I know that the Lord will always be with you. This week here in Oaxaca was super busy and full of work, which made the time fly by. Things are awesome with my new companion Elder Licona and I’m already learning so much from him!
General Things A lot of small things happened this week, so I’m just going to list them off here -We traveled to the very corner of our area, something I’ve never done before -The zone leader stayed the night with us -I did an exchange to an area called Telix with Elder Moa, it was super fun! -We went to Oaxaca City to get Elder Licona’s second vaccine
The Work This week, we have started to do a lot more in-person work, like knocking doors, contacting people on the street, and especially, working with members. It has been really good and actually we have been pretty successful finding new people and having first lessons with them. This does entail a lot of travelling, but I think it really is what Valle de Etla needs to have the work shoot off and be successful. And this upcoming week is sure to be busy as well, with many plans to help less-active families and strengthen the ward here a lot.
Baptisms! And we have two people set on a strong date for baptism! One is for this week, his name is Martin, he has been taught for a while, and we had a super powerful lesson with him where we read 2 Nephi 31 and talked about the Doctrine of Christ. It was really good and I think he is finally ready to make this change in his life. The second is a youth named Santiago and he has a super strong testimony and even wants to serve a mission! All we need to do is to get his family on-board with letting him make this incredible decision of baptism, and it is finally coming along after quite some time! If you all could pray for them, that would be a huge blessing! Thanks guys!
Spiritual Thought I haven’t done one of these in a while, so I thought it is the time now. I recently have been reading in Alma and a joke in our district is that when there is a difficult person (or missionary) to just read Alma 5 because it is very direct. However, something else I found in Alma 5 is the strong testimony of Alma! 45 And this is not all. Do ye not suppose that I know of these things myself? Behold, I testify unto you that I do know that these things whereof I have spoken are true. And how do ye suppose that I know of their surety? 46 Behold, I say unto you they are made known unto me by the Holy Spirit of God. Behold, I have fasted and prayed many days that I might know these things of myself. And now I do know of myself that they are true; for the Lord God hath made them manifest unto me by his Holy Spirit; and this is the spirit of revelation which is in me. This testimony is really powerful and inspiring for me, and it also explains how we can build our own testimonies, through the Holy Ghost by way of fasting and prayer! I know this is true and testify that the Lord is always there for us, waiting for us to ask in faith and learn of these things for ourselves.
Pictures! Photos of the district and a river we had to cross!
Love you all! Elder Ord
