Hey everyone! I hope you are all doing super well! This week here in Oaxaca has been a pretty good one. We got a lot of work done and received some pretty crazy news about how the next few months of my mission will go.
*Training… again!* So last Monday I got the training call from the misson president… again. Funny enough, it was pretty similar to the last time I got the call because my companion will be training also! He seems to be a little nervous, but I know he’ll do great. As for me, there was a small part of me who was expecting it because of the timing and how many transfers i have left, but i was still surprised. There will be 20 missionaries getting here this transfer, so a lot of trainers are needed I guess. But it’ll be cool, I’m still pretty excited to be able to train again.
In preparation for training, we had a meeting on Thursday with the 20 of us where President Martinez and the Asistants gave a lesson and some advice on what we need to do. I had already been to the meeting the last time I trained, but this time it was slightly different and I still learned a lot. But it was fun staying over at the offices and getting to see a bunch of other missionaries too.
*The Work in Zimatlán * As for the area, Elder Torres and I basically spent the whole week in the town 30 minutes from where we live because the work is progressing super fast over there. We have even come to the conclusion that it would be better to move there and change houses. But we’ll have to see who gets the ‘pleasure’ of house hunting because transfers are coming up this weekend so one of us will be getting transferred.
*Gabriel* There in Zimatlán, we have had so many blessings and miracles with hermano Gabriel. His baptism will be this Wednesday! We prepared him completely and he passed his baptismal interview with flying colors. We are really excited for this and you could even feel the emotion in the Zimaltán Branch on Sunday. It is unfortunate that Elder Torres and I won’t be able to stay here and keep working together.
*Kevin* The other person who almost was going to get baptized this week was Kevin. He is a teenager who we’ve been working with for about a month. His family and he have been participating sporadically in the church for years now, but none of them are members. However, a few of Kevin’s extended family are members as well as his best friend, Teo. Elder Torres and I were really hopefully of this baptism but after a super rough lesson on Saturday, it seems that Kevin still needs some more time to be prepared for a baptism. But funny enough, we just got to know his mom and she is much more prepared and probably will get baptized before Kevin, so I guess it was a blessing in disguise.
